Ready for a magical Digi release?! I thought so! Today we’re bringing you the Ah-Maze-Ing Magician Mae for this week’s Some Odd Girl
Super shiny morning to you, Oddies! Alexis here with a sparkly post about sequins and some of the ways to incorporate them into your next project. I so love a shiny thing, but glitter is the bane of my existence, so what’s a crafty unicorn princess to do? Sequins of course. They are full of just as much shimmer, but they are far less obnoxious than their glitterati sisters and as a general rule, they stay where you put them.
So, here are some of the ways I’ve used sequins in my projects and I can’t wait to see what you come up with pairing Some Odd Girl stamps with these shiny baubles of pure love.
1. Unique Sentiments
For this card I applied a rainbow of Sorbet Sequins beneath a portion of the Mantra Sentiment Pack (which I turned into a cut file) It went a lot quicker than I’d expected and I love how it turned out with the Sunshine Sorbet paper layer behind it. I probably could have kept it super CAS with how much the sequins stood out, but something this magical was just asking for the Petal Fairy digi added to it.
2. Shake It Up!
My favorite way to incorporated sequins is to add them to a shaker card! For this I used the Baby Mix sequins and the cupcake from Sweet & Salty and the sentiment from Make a Statement. It made for a bright and happy shaker card!
3. Random Playtime
If you ask me, sequins are the new enamel dots. I put them everywhere. This card was a super simple mixed media card I made using a sentiment and embellishment from the new Frenchie Kody clear set. It was cute and simple before, but then the sequins add so much pop!
A few tips for sequin application: Most liquid adhesives do the trick for applying, but I’ve also used thin double sided tape with good results. My favorite tool to apply them is a Quickstik, but tweezers will always work in a pinch. The biggest tip though is don’t be afraid to have fun with them. They really can go anywhere, and they come in so many different colors and sizes that they are a blast to play with!
